Event: Keynote Speaker at Fragrance Festival Malaysia 2026

If you’ve been watching the custom Elementor countdown widget ticking down on my homepage, you know exactly what is happening on October 2nd. I am beyond thrilled to announce that I will be speaking at Fragrance Festival Malaysia 2026!

Taking place from October 2 to 4 at the Pavilion Exhibition Centre in Bukit Jalil, this event is set to be a massive gathering for scent enthusiasts. I’ll be presenting a deep-dive workshop titled “The Molecular Lift: How Synthetic Chemistry Saves Endangered Botanicals.”

We will be looking at real molecular models, smelling raw isolates, and discussing how lab-created molecules like Javanol are shaping the future of ethical perfumery. If you are planning to attend, make sure to pace your nose—test your favorite fragrances on blotters first before committing them to your skin. Come say hi after the panel!

Project: Olfactory Consultant for “Fragrance of Asia”

Date: September 2026 | Category: Events & Projects, Sensory Installations

Earlier this year, I was brought on as a chemical and olfactory consultant for the Fragrance of Asia exhibition. Housed in the beautiful industrial space of Sentul Depot in Kuala Lumpur, this was an immersive exhibition designed to translate Asia’s diverse landscapes into a physical, sensory journey.

This project was a massive departure from writing reviews. Visitors explored the space not just through visual storytelling, but through scent, texture, sound, and taste. My role was to formulate the ambient room diffusers that would safely and accurately scent the massive venue without overwhelming the visitors or damaging the physical artwork.

We successfully created three distinct “zones”: a high-humidity tropical petrichor, a dry temple incense accord using synthetic sandalwood, and a bustling night market gourmand haze. It was a beautiful reminder of my favorite philosophy: people don’t just fall in love with artistic concepts, they fall in love with how an environment makes them feel.
